Overview

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 is a revolutionary full-arch restoration technique that replaces an entire upper or lower row of teeth using only four titanium implants. Two implants are placed vertically at the front of the jaw, while two posterior implants are angled at up to 45 degrees — maximizing contact with the available bone and eliminating the need for bone grafting in most patients.

The result is a full, fixed set of teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth — often delivered the same day as your surgery. Patients leave with a confident smile and immediately improved quality of life.

Why All-on-4?

Traditional full-mouth restorations can require individual implants for every missing tooth, extensive bone grafting, and multiple years of treatment. All-on-4 dramatically simplifies this process — four implants, one surgery, teeth the same day.

Teeth in a Day

A provisional full arch prosthesis is attached the same day as your implant surgery, so you never go home without teeth.

No Bone Graft Needed

The angled posterior implants utilize existing bone, so most patients avoid the additional time and expense of bone grafting procedures.

Fixed, Not Removable

Unlike traditional dentures, All-on-4 restorations are permanently anchored. No adhesives, no slipping, no removing them at night.

The Procedure

What to Expect on Surgery Day

The All-on-4 procedure typically takes place in a single surgical appointment under IV sedation or general anesthesia for your comfort. Dr. Hoover begins by carefully planning implant positions using 3D imaging and digital treatment planning software to ensure optimal placement.

Any remaining failing teeth are removed, the four implants are placed, and a temporary full-arch prosthesis is attached the same day. This provisional set of teeth allows you to eat and speak normally while your implants heal over the following three to six months.

Once osseointegration is complete — meaning the implants have fully fused with your jawbone — your final, custom-crafted permanent prosthesis is placed. This final restoration is fabricated from highly durable, natural-looking materials designed to last for many years.

Candidacy

Are You a Candidate?

All-on-4 is an excellent solution for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth, are struggling with failing teeth, or are currently wearing full dentures and want a permanent alternative. Most patients with sufficient bone at the front of the jaw qualify without needing bone grafting.

A thorough evaluation including dental X-rays and a 3D CT scan is performed at your consultation. Our doctors will assess your bone density, overall oral health, and medical history to confirm that All-on-4 is the right approach for you — or recommend an alternative such as All-on-X if additional implants would better serve your anatomy.

How long do All-on-4 implants last?

With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, All-on-4 implants can last 20 years or more. The permanent prosthesis itself may eventually need replacement, but the implant posts typically last a lifetime.

What anesthesia is used?

The procedure is performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia so you remain comfortable throughout. Our team will discuss the best option for you at your consultation.

Can I eat after the surgery?

Yes — you leave with teeth. You will start on a soft diet during the healing phase to protect the implants, then transition to a full diet once your final prosthesis is placed.
